CMS eLearning System

Our flagship product, the CMS eLearning system, is an online learning management system designed for those who have CAPP, CalWORKs or CCTR contracts. The system is an ideal choice for any organization that wants to provide a broad set of courses for detailed training. The CMS eLearning system is available as a custom-branded dashboard unique to each organization and is easily accessible over the internet without downloading additional software. The system inspires rapid self-paced learning, increases organizational productivity and helps ensure proficiency and compliance with regulatory requirements, all with the goal of more quickly serving families and children.

Included with the CMS eLearning system are regulatory update courses based on the California Department of Social Services’ Child Care Bulletins (CCBs) for the CAPP, CalWORKs and CCTR contracts. These regulatory updates are released as soon as possible after CCBs are issued to support rapid training updates for existing employees based on new regulatory changes. Courses that require modification based on the CCB regulatory changes are updated at the same time, so they are ready for any new employees.
Coursework covers everything from how to determine eligibility and document the need for childcare subsidies to general courses such as fraud awareness or understanding 504s and IEPs. The entire system is built to be an eLearning platform that goes beyond a summary of what the regulations require, providing guidance and examples of how to apply the knowledge gained in the real world.

Annual course subscriptions feature individual learning paths tailored to each employee based on their role, with an interactive learning experience throughout a course including:
  • Periodic pop-quizzes to encourage engagement with topics
  • Real-world scenarios that demonstrate how to apply the knowledge learned
  • Individual scored assessments at the end of courses to measure comprehension
  • Hands-on practice worksheets that provide the opportunity to practice what was learned
Managers never have to wonder who has completed a course because the system provides progress reporting for each course an individual is enrolled in. Managers can also receive a report on an individual’s assessment score to ensure comprehension of the coursework.
Additional capabilities and new courses are continually being added, all designed to help organizations work better and more productively.

Regulatory Update Courses

Regulatory Update courses are available to all users of the CMS eLearning system as part of the platform software subscription and are designed for employees needing to learn about new CAPP, CalWORKs, and CCTR program requirements, regulatory changes and/or updated guidance from the California Department of Social Services. These regulatory updates enable quick understanding of changes to ensure programs remain in compliance as policies change.

Fundamentals Courses

Fundamentals courses are designed for individuals working with California programs, such as CAPP, CalWORKs, or CCTR, who would benefit from detailed training to ensure accuracy and compliance with program regulations. Fundamentals courses provide a foundational understanding on determination of eligibility, documentation of need, managing case files, reimbursement, reporting and other program requirements. General topics such as Fraud Awareness, Data Privacy, Security and Confidentiality, and understanding 504 Plans and Individualized Education Program (IEPs) are also available.

Advanced Courses

Advanced courses are lengthy courses with a myriad of detailed examples and real-world scenarios. Advanced courses are designed for experienced employees who are ready to learn more, with a much more comprehensive review of examples that more experienced individuals might encounter. Advanced courses include Advanced Self Employment with diverse examples detailing how to document need for childcare subsidies, and Advanced Income Calculation focusing on complex multi-job and variable income calculations.
Depending on the needs of an organization or if it has unique processes or policies, highly customized courses can be developed and added to an organization’s learning dashboard.

With an additional subscription, a professional development learning library with courses from third-party experts can also be accessed from an organization’s dashboard, making it a one-stop shop for employee learning.
